Roxanne Long, B.A., Developmental Therapist

Roxanne graduated in 1995 from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a concentration in Mediation and Negotiation, and a minor in French. In 2006, she completed her Birth-Kindergarten licensure at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Roxanne has completed internships at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, focusing on children with a variety of disorders and developmental delays. She has also worked as a teacher’s assistant in a language impaired, self-contained classroom through the Wake County Public School System. Roxanne has 4 years experience in the classroom teaching infant to three year old children with and without special needs. She also taught and coordinated Pediatric Therapy Associates Early Steps Learning Program for children with special needs including: autism, chromosomal disorders, global delays, and behavioral disorders.  She is credentialed as an Infant Toddler and Family Specialist and Parents as Teachers Educator.  In addition, Roxanne has received training on premature infants through the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Wake Med Hospital.

Roxanne enjoys working with children with challenging behaviors.  Her experience enables her to offer helpful strategies to families who face challenges in every day life and parenting.  She enjoys mentoring parents and implementing these strategies to strengthen their parenting skills. 

Roxanne also has an admiration for the French language and culture, and has a special appreciation for families of diverse cultures after living in Paris, France for almost two years. She also enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her two children.
