Kimberly Polk, M.S., PT

Kim graduated in 1999 with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky. She has extensive experience in pediatric physical therapy. Most recently, Kim worked with children ages birth to 21 and their families on the United States Military Base in Wiesbaden, Germany. During her time in Europe, Kim gained experience in an Italian exercise protocol for children at risk for increased progression of scoliosis. In addition, she became a Certified Infant Massage Instructor through the International Institute of Infant Massage. Prior to her years in Germany, Kim worked with infants and children in Lexington, KY. During that time, she provided children diagnosed with neurological, orthopedic, and developmental conditions with evaluations and treatment, as well as AFOs and adaptive equipment.  Kim also had the opportunity to participate in a special Constraint Induced Movement Therapy protocol for individuals with hemiplegia.
Before attending the University of Kentucky graduate program in physical therapy, Kim worked as a certified orthotist and prosthetist in Sacramento and Modesto, California. For a period of 6 years, Kim casted and fabricated custom orthotics and prosthetics for infants, children, and adults. Additional treatment expertise includes the use of ultrasound, infared/anodyne, short wave diathermy, and electrical stimulation for post-surgical, orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation. Kim’s experience as an orthotist/prosthetist and as a pediatric physical therapist spans a period of 16 years.
