Jessi Smith, M.S., CCC-SLP

Jessi is a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist in our Raleigh office.  She graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders.  She continued her education at East Carolina University, where she received her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology.  Throughout her college career, she enjoyed working at A Small Miracle Inc; a CAP-MR/DD agency that provides comprehensive services to children and adults with all types of disabilities.  Her interest and love grew from her experience as a habilitation technician, providing one-on-one self-help services, into a passion for speech and language therapy. 

Upon graduating, Jessi has immensely enjoyed serving children of all ages exclusively within the pediatric private practice setting. She has experience in the evaluation and treatment of children with a variety of diagnoses including: toddler language delays, articulation and phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, receptive and expressive language disorders, stuttering, resonance disorders, literacy disabilities, feeding disorders, and auditory processing disorders. 

She has experience working with various special populations, including:  autism spectrum disorder, developmental disorders, learning disabilities, behavioral difficulties, ADHD and cognitive impairments.

Jessi has specialized training in “PECS”, (the Picture Exchange Communication System) for non-verbal/ limited verbal individuals and those with limited access to clear speech.  She is trained in the “PROMPT” (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) technique for articulation and apraxia of speech treatment.  She has also completed the following workshops: the “Medical Motor Behavioral Approach” to feeding therapy and the “Color Me Fluent” program for individuals who stutter. 

Outside of work, Jessi enjoys spending time with family and friends, painting, playing tennis, cooking new recipes, and reading.
