Kristin Patria

Kristin obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science from the University of New England in 2007.  She then went to Philadelphia University in Pennsylvania to obtain a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (completed May 2012).  Kristin developed her passion for working with children and their families during her first level II internship at United Cerebral Palsy of Tampa Bay.  There, Kristin gained experience in assessing handwriting, sensory integration, visual processing skills, emotional regulation skills, and social interaction skills.  She also completed a level I internship with the Pennsylvania Center for Adaptive Sports.  During that internship, she worked with individuals of all ages, with a wide range of physical and cognitive deficits, in the adaptive downhill ski program at Camelback Mountain.  After graduating, Kristin worked in Gainesville, FL in an outpatient pediatric clinic.  She has experience working with a variety of diagnoses including: autism, developmental delay, cerebral palsy, fine motor and visual perceptual/motor issues, sensory processing disorders, and a variety of other syndromes and disabilities.  She has been trained in the Therapeutic Listening Program, visual processing, and the Language Acquisition Through Motor Planning (LAMP) program, and has experience with “Handwriting Without Tears,” the Astronaut Training Program, and Interactive Metronome.  She looks forward to taking the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Feeding course and working with children with feeding difficulties.

Kristin is originally from Charlestown, New Hampshire and is very excited to have finally relocated to North Carolina, a dream of hers stemming from many family vacations to the Carolinas throughout childhood.  During her free time, Kristin enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, going to the beach, playing kickball, skiing, running, watching sports (especially hockey and baseball) and playing with cats, Felix and Charlie.
