Bonnie Essig

Bonnie received a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1998.  Upon graduating, she worked in a private school serving children with special needs. She gained extensive experience with aquatic therapy, adaptive seating equipment and orthotics.  In 2001, she then switched her focus to providing early intervention services to families in their homes and clinical settings.  Bonnie has experience evaluating and treating children with various diagnoses such as prematurity, torticollis, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, cortical visual impairments, hypotonia, traumatic brain injuries, and other global gross motor and developmental delays.  Each year she takes continuing education courses, which have included: Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT), sensory integration, lower extremity orthotics, wheelchair seating systems, and pediatric gait.

Bonnie joined the team at Pediatric Therapy Associates in 2007.  She provides physical therapy services in the natural environment to children enrolled in the Early Intervention Program (ages birth to 3 years).  She currently resides in Wake Forest with her husband and two teen-aged children.
