Angie Hong, Bachelor of Music, MT-BC, Developmental Therapist

Angie Hong, music therapist-board certified, is the Director and Founder of The Carolina Center for Music Therapy, LLC.  Angie received a double bachelor’s degree in music therapy and piano performance from the University of Georgia and completed her music therapy internship at The Cleveland Music School Settlement in Ohio, where she worked in educational, community, and hospital settings. In addition to running The Carolina Center for Music Therapy, LLC, Angie is working towards completion of her master’s degree in music therapy at Temple University.  She is also credentialed as a developmental therapist. Angie currently provides music therapy services in the Durham and Chapel Hill school systems, where she provides direct service to self-contained classrooms, participates in IEP meetings where music therapy is requested as a related service, and provides consultations to special education teachers and other specialists. She was recently recruited to participate in a multi-site NIH study at Duke Hospital with adolescents undergoing bone marrow transplant procedures. Angie’s other contract sites include The Frankie Lemmon School and Developmental Center (a special needs preschool), Residential Services, Inc. (adults with special needs), and private individual and group clients. She is a frequent presenter of music therapy on local and national levels on topics including literacy, levels of play, music therapy technology, and adaptive piano techniques.
